West Springfield- Erma Viola (Lane) Baugh peacefully passed at home on Thursday, June 29th, 2017. She was a lover of hummingbirds, dogs, flowers, and all things nature. A true beauty inside and out, she always had a smile on her face and made a lasting impression on all who knew her. Erma had a heart of gold and loved to spend all of her time with her family, as well as outdoors in the sunshine. She had a beautiful collection of Precious Moments as well as angel figurines. The Baugh family traveled the country for Alfred's work with the government, lived in many of the 50 states, and finally settled in West Springfield, MA in 1977.
Born in Pulaski, Virginia on March 20th, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Luther S. and Elsie G. (Taylor) Lane. Jesse Lane and Lottie Lovern, with whom she spoke often, are her surviving siblings, both of Pulaski, Virginia. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in West Springfield, MA and had a strong love and belief in God. Erma leaves behind her lifelong beloved husband Alfred L. Baugh, to whom she was wed for 59 years. She also leaves behind her two sons, Jeffrey Baugh and Sam Baugh with fiance Michelle Wilga, in addition to her only daughter, Deb Coalley with husband Rick. She was blessed with both grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jamie Coalley with wife Jessie, and great-grandchildren Anthony and Casey, Shawn Coalley, Whitney Salvatore with husband Joseph, and great-grandchildren Elliana and Rickee, Amber Desrosiers with husband Jason, and great-granddaughter Sophia. She also leaves behind her sweet pomeranian Lilly. She is greatly loved and will be missed by all.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 5th, 2017 from 4-7 PM at the Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 6th, 2017, at 12:30 PM at the First Baptist Church on 337 Piper Road in West Springfield, MA, with burial to follow at the Massachusetts Veteran's Cemetery in Agawam.
