West Springfield- James F. Sullivan, 87, passed away Tuesday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New York, NY to the late Ruth (Roda) and James Sullivan. Jim graduated from the University of Hartford and retired from Aetna Insurance Company where he worked for 35 years. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield and St. Brendan the Navigator in Shallotte, NC. Jim enjoyed, first and foremost, spending time with family and friends both at home and during travels and vacations. He loved life and defied all the odds to live a long and meaningful one. Jim gave generously to all who knew him and to so many who did not. James was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marian (Lambe) Sullivan, his son John Sullivan and his sister Norma. He leaves a legacy of love in his children, James Sullivan and his wife Mary Jo of Longmeadow, Alice Bell and her husband Michael of Shallotte, NC, Suellen Paolino and her husband Edward of Cromwell, CT, Marian Chilson and her husband Lindsey of Ballston Spa, NY, Peter Sullivan and his wife Shelley of Agawam, his daughter-in-law Judy Moser and her husband Joel of Feeding Hills, and the lights of his life, his 13 amazing grandchildren, Daniel (Katie), Erin (Dan), Caitlyn (Reed), Kristyn, Sara, Lauren, Cara, Kellsey, Shannon, Keegan, Brooke, Jenna and Eddie and his great-grandson, Caden. He also leaves his sister Carol Dodd and her husband Frank and his brother Donald Sullivan and his wife Maria, his sisters-in-law, Ellenmae Guimaraes, Eileen Dwan and her husband Bill, and Barbara Lambe and his many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends. The funeral will be Tuesday, 11 am at the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St. W. Spfld., followed by a 12 Noon Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St with burial at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 pm -7 pm.
