West Springfield, Lucille (Danforth) Polley, 102, passed away Thursday November 9, 2017. Born in Agawam to the late Rhea (Provost) and Eldred Danforth, she was a 1933 graduate of Agawam High School and a 38 year office retiree of the Strathmore Paper Company. She was the widow of Raymond Sheldon Polley who passed away in 2005. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage together. Lucille was a longtime member of the Mittineague Church and will be remembered for her strength, independence and love for her family. Her memory will be kept alive by her loving daughter, Judith Polley DaCruz and her husband Jose, her adoring granddaughter Joanna Polley DaCruz Smith and her husband Eric. She was blessed to become a “GG” great grandmother to Emily Rae Smith, the most recent joy in her life. She also leaves her 4 stepgrandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren and her special niece and nephews, Sally Danforth Ritchotte (Alan), Ronald Danforth (Ruth), Ralph Danforth (Bonnie) and K. Ann Danforth. She was predeceased by her brothers Vernon Danforth, Erwin “Pat” Danforth and nephew William K. Danforth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children 516 Carew St Springfield, MA. or to Dana Farber Cancer Institute Attention Brain Research 450 Brookline Ave Boston, MA. A funeral home service will be held Tuesday at 11 from the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St West Springfield with burial in Hardwick Center Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 9-11.
