Mildred "Millie" Stella (Taskey) Liebro passed away Thursday, Feb. 15th, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 101 years old. She was born in Springfield on May 8th, 1916. She lived in West Springfield her entire life and was a graduate of West Springfield High School. Millie was an accomplished seamstress having worked for years at Forbes and Wallace and for many interior decorators. She retired as a cook for the West Springfield School System. Her hobbies included gardening and entertaining her friends at home and at the cape. Millie spent 30 summers at her cottage in Wellfleet where she loved walking the beach, swimming and enjoying the warm waters of Cape Cod Bay. Cherished moments included cooking up lobsters and all the fruits of the sea, cocktails on the deck and sunsets at Herring Cove. Millie was there to help whoever needed it will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her two sons; Ralph with whom she lived, Donald and her loving daughters, Patricia Drewniak and Pamela Liebro. She lost the true love of her life, her husband, Sistiano Liebro in 1967. It was a difficult time for her, but she raised her family and made them all successful in what they do today, it would not have been possible without her help and guidance. She also leaves her son-in-law David Drewniak, daughters-in-law Louise Benoit and Mary Jane (Smiegelski) Liebro, and her grandchildren; Tino and Sharon Liebro, Mike and Jill Liebro, Devin Liebro, Peter and Mary Ann Drewniak and Dan and Shelley Drewniak, and her great grandchildren; Ella and Emmie Drewniak and Dominic and Vincent Liebro. Millie leaves many friends close and dear to her heart; Lisa, Janet, her niece Phyllis, her Cape friends; Marriane, Noreen, Shirley, Rosaline, and the many who made her times at the Cape special moments that she cherished. The calling hours will be Wednesday, February 21st from 9:30-11:00 AM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Baystate Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 50 Maple Street, Springfield, MA 01102-9058.
