West Springfield, Elizabeth M. “Betsy” DeVoie, 64, passed away Friday September 1, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Holyoke, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Bertha D. (Grady) DeVoie. Betsy was a graduate of West Springfield High School. She worked at the Digital Corporation for 15 years. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and the former Immaculate Conception Church and was a devout Catholic. Betsy loved crossword puzzles, watching television, the New England Patriots but her greatest joy was spending special time with her family. Betsy will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her and whose lives she touched. She had a beautiful smile, kind heart, and always saw the best in everyone.  She leaves her sister and best friend, Pat Lover, loving sister, Barbara Amsden (Chick), her special brother, Allen DeVoie (Lynn) all of West Springfield, her sister-in-law, Lois DeVoie of E. Longmeadow. She was the loving Godmother to Nathan DeVoie and Kristen Gawle. Betsy also leaves her special niece, Sue “Cookie” Hakenson, and many other loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John Robert DeVoie. The family would like to thank Betsy’s wonderful caregivers, Tracy, Alicia and Carrie. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 10am at St. Thomas Church, 65 Pine St., with burial at a later date. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Donations may be made to the Spina Bifida Foundation, c/o Boston Childrens’ Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA. 02115.
