Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Kennedy, 72, of West Springfield, Massachusetts, died peacefully on May 29, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 23, 1947 to the late John E. and Eunice (Andrews) Kennedy. She was predeceased by her sister Alice (Kennedy) Woods in 2008 and twin sister Katherine Kennedy in 1947. Betty lived in West Springfield her entire life and was a life-long communicant of St. Thomas Church. She attended St. Thomas School, West Springfield High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s in Education and a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies in reading from the American International College. Betty taught for 35 years in the Enfield, CT public schools. Her favorite pastime was going to water aerobics at Healthtrax in West Springfield. She also loved reading, travelling, crafting, gardening and enjoying time with family and friends. Anyone that was blessed to know Betty knew that she was a loving and kind person, who always put helping others before herself. She will be missed by so many. She leaves behind her brother-in-law, John R. Woods, her niece Maureen (Woods)Pinter, and husband Christopher, her nephew John C. Woods, and wife Barbara, her great nieces and nephews, Sarah, Erin, William, Zachary, Meghan and Jeremy, great-grandnephew Derek and great grandnieces Lilliana, Emily and Victoria. Calling hours for Betty will be held on Monday, June 3rd at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St., W. Springfield from 9am-10:30am with Mass following at St. Thomas Church at 11AM and burial at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to the Shrine of the Divine Mercy, 2 Prospect Hill Rd., Stockbridge, MA 01262 in recognition of years of loving support and prayers from Fr. Thaddeus Lancton. Donations may also be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
