Katherine R. Monko

Katherine R. Monko, 91, passed away Thursday at Heritage Hall East Nursing Home.  She was born in Northampton to the late Catherine (Molitoris) and John Monko. Katherine was a graduate of West Springfield High School. She was a resident of West Springfield for most of her life.  She was a communicant of the former St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church in West Springfield. Katherine was a bookkeeper at Gilbert and Barker for 20 years, then at Price, Waterhouse, Coopers for 25 years until her retirement. She also worked at the West Springfield Record. Katherine leaves loving sisters, Barbara Doucette and her husband Joseph of Agawam and Margaret Camp of W. Springfield, four nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews and her sister-in-law, Helen Monko. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen Bencivenni in 2012 and her brother, John Monko in 2002.Visitation will be 9-10AM, Monday at the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St. W. Spfld., followed by a 10:30 Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main Street, Agawam. The burial will be private at Hillcrest Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. For more details please visit
