West Springfield – Kathleen J. (Murray) Weaver, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 14, 2017. She was born April 3, 1932 to the late John T. and Mary Ellen (Davin) Murray. Kathy was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Garvey and brothers, John, William and James Murray. Kathy graduated from Cathedral High School, entered Westfield State Teachers College where she graduated with a degree in teaching. She retired after teaching for many years in the West Springfield School System. Kathy taught sixth grade at Cowing, John Ashley, Mittineague and Piper Road, where she met wonderful friends and enjoyed teaching her students. Kathy’s family was the most important part of her life. She spent a lot of great times and enjoyed many of life’s wonderful moments with her family and friends by her side. Her Irish heritage was also very important to her and we all have enjoyed sharing in that part of her life. Mom will be sadly missed by her three sons, John and David (Judy) both of W. Spfld., Joseph of East Wallingford, VT and three daughters, Pamela Gavin (Thomas) of W. Spfld., Constance Tourigny (Joseph) of Chester, VT and Carolyn Pike of W. Spfld. “Granny” also leaves 12 grandchildren, Christine Foley, Corinne Boucher, Abigail Weaver, Manasseh Lemoureaux, Meshach Tourigny, Casluh Chamberlain, Jacqueline Conlin, Jacob Weaver, Jesse Weaver and Joseph Weaver, Meagan Pike and Jordan Pike, 11 great-grandchildren, Madi, Samantha, Teagan, Ryan, EJ, Lily, Maeve, Teddy, Gabby, Isley and Callen. Kathy also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much and her very close friend, Barbara Begley. A very special thank you to her niece Maura and Mitchell Pieciak for going the extra mile. The family also wishes to thank everyone for their many acts of kindness to their mom and family. Kathy’s friends and relatives are invited to meet at St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St, Monday for a 10:30 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial, followed by burial at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the William Murray Scholarship Fund, c/o Kathy Murray, 79 Nelson Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.
