Norma Anne (Draper) Kindig passed away into eternal rest on Saturday, March 24th. She was born on April 10th, 1936 to the late Russell and Alice (McGowen) Draper. She was predeceased by her sister Nancy Paier, Janet Draper, and Kathleen Draper. Norma spent her life with her husband Kenneth raising their three daughters. Besides her husband Kenneth she is survived by her daughters; Rosemarie Grabowski of Otis, Kathryn Pisano and her husband John of West Springfield, and Connie Boyd and her husband Garth of Storrs, CT. Norma grew up in West Springfield where she graduated from West Springfield High School. After a short stay in Michigan, Norma returned to West Springfield to complete raising her family. Norma spent her life as a stay at home mother to her children. She was a wonderful homemaker providing for her family in every way. She loved sewing and especially making clothes for her children and grandchildren. She was known for her remarkable afghans she knit. She was an excellent oil painter and her painting of the White Church appeared in the West Springfield Bicentennial Calendar. Norma had a love for the game of Bingo and played it often. She adored her five grandchildren; Jessica Grabowski, Daniel Sullivan, Joanna Grabowski, Kevin Pisano, and Brianna Pisano. She babysat them on a daily basis and enjoyed watching each of them grow and become successful. She also loved and adored Chelsea Boyd, Camden Boyd, and Jason Pisano and enjoyed watching them mature into adulthood. In recent years, Norma loved to spend the winter months in Venice, FL with her husband Kenneth. The family would like to thank the staff of Agawam Health Care for the wonderful care they gave Norma. The Therapy Unit, 2 East and 2 West always went above and beyond in all their actions for Norma’s well-being. The will be calling hours Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. There will be a Funeral Home Service Wednesday at 11 AM at Toomey-O’Brien F.H. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Norma’s memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38108-9959.
