Veronica E. BrusoMarch 17, 2017
West Springfield - Veronica Ellen (Peterson) Bruso died peacefully at home on Friday. She was the daughter of the late Edward G. and Leona E. Peterson. Ronnie, as she was known by all who loved her, was born in Boston and moved to Springfield with her family as a child. She attended Springfield schools and graduated from the High School of Commerce. She attended Springfield Technical Community College where she studied nursing and later Holyoke Community College where she studied accounting and business. She worked at the Toomey-O’Brien and Wilbraham Funeral Homes for many years. Ronnie’s greatest joy was sharing her life with her husband David and her beloved sons, Daniel and John. She loved animals, especially her dog pal, Barnaby and horses, Charlie and Peacock. During the eighties, Ronnie was the West Springfield Animal Inspector for nearly a decade. She was predeceased by her brothers Christopher, George and twin brother James and in the most tragic loss of her life, by her son Daniel in 2010. Along with David and John of West Springfield and John's fiance Chrissy Zatorski of Pittsfield, Ronnie leaves her brother Dennis Peterson of Marlboro and sister Martha McCallum of Chicopee, beloved daughter-in-law, Sandra Bruso and cherished grandchildren, Claire Elizabeth, Audrey Ellen and Charles Daniel Bruso of Somers. We will be forever grateful to caregivers Patricia Alston, Nicole Aponte, Keisha Brown, Tina Hunt and cousin Wendy Hutchins who were her angels and enabled Ronnie to remain in her home for the final years of her life. There will be a remembrance of our beautiful Ronnie from 6:00-8:00PM on Thursday at the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., W. Springfield. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ronnie may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or to the charity of one’s choice.
