Obituary
West Springfield - Alfred (AL) Marotte passed away Monday, May 21, 2018. He was born in Springfield to the late Mary McMahon and Alfred J. Marotte and lived in West Springfield until 1994 when he retired to Fort Pierce, Florida with his wife Jean. Al was a graduate of West Springfield High School and worked for Northeast Utilities for 46 years. He also spent 20 years in the National Guard. Al was a communicant of Saint Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield and St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Fort Pierce, Fl. He was very active in both churches. In retirement Al volunteered as a security guard for Spanish Lakes Village in Florida and enjoyed golfing & fishing. He was married to Jean Marotte for 64 years who passed away in 2014. He leaves his children, Thomas Marotte of Springfield, Barbara Patruno of Agawam, Alfred Marotte, III of Agawam and John Marotte of Hackensack, NJ, and his sister Dorothy Preston. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.  Al was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Pollard and Rose Cook. There will be Funeral Home Service on Friday at 11am at the TOOMEY-OBRIEN Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., W. Springfield, burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 9am – 11am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle School, 47 Pine Street, W. Springfield, MA 01089.
