Obituary
Allan B. Claflin, 74 of West Springfield, passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2018.  Allan was born on October 24, 1943 in Springfield, MA to Kenneth and Alice Claflin.  He lived most of his life in the West Springfield area.  He attended Springfield schools until he started work at an early age at various businesses such as Breck Shampoo, Hamilton Standard and until his retirement, worked as an auto body technician at Rossi Auto Body in West Springfield.  Allan was a great man, a generous man with a good sense of humor and a very kind heart.  If you needed a few dollars or a ride he would always be there.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Pioneer Valley Boating & Fishing Club of West Springfield.  He was a great bowler and became a league member with the Friday Night Mixers at Brunswick Airway Lanes in Springfield.  He loved to stay up late at night watching old western movies and spending time talking with family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by many.  He leaves behind brothers Roger and Steve Claflin; sister Carolyn Ainsworth; son Harold & his girlfriend Karen Blanchard; sons Chester S. and Allan Jr. of Florida; step-children June Rogers, Rene & Richard Letendre; grandchildren Kenneth, Kyle, Brandon, Courtney and one great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by brother Robert Claflin; son Kenneth Claflin, previous wife Nancy Claflin and long-time companion Edith Letendre.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105.  At Allan’s request, there will be no services held.  All arrangements have been made by Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home in West Springfield.
