Ann R. (Matteo) Bachmann

July 26, 1930 — February 13, 2025

Westfield-Ann R. (Matteo) Bachmann, 94 passed away peacefully February 13, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. She was predeceased by her husband Robert S. Bachmann in 1981 and her brothers Augustus Matteo, Nicholas Matteo, Michael Matteo and sister Antoinette Rouse. Ann and Bob were born in Philadelphia, PA and were married in 1950. She will be greatly missed by her loving children Robert Bachmann and wife Deborah of Westfield, MA, daughter Deborah McClernan of Mantua, NJ and son Bruce Bachmann and wife Lisa of Bonita Springs, FL. She also leaves behind 6 loving grandchildren: Ashley, Nick, Neal, Alexandra, Samantha and Morgan; and 7 great grandchildren: great granddaughters Vivian, Emilia, Margot and Aurelia, and great grandsons Nolan, Hudson and Maverick. Ann’s grandchildren filled her heart with love and she was extremely proud of her great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Ohma. Ohma was always young at heart and created so many wonderful memories with her grandchildren. Ann had the unique ability to keep your attention for hours. Ann was a Registered Nurse and was also very active in community activities. She worked tirelessly for all of the community programs she so passionately supported. She was a role model for young woman leaders to take charge and get things done. She had amazing wit and creativity and was very passionate about doing the right things right. Ann’s quick wit, high energy, and stylish dress attire were always present. Ann was past president of the Ramapogue Woman’s Club in West Springfield, Chairwoman of the West Springfield High School Committee, member of the West Springfield Bicentennial Committee, member of the West Springfield Tour of Homes, a trustee of the West Springfield Boys and Girls Club and a member of the Westfield Woman’s Club. Ann and her husband Bob were both deacons at the Mittineague Congregational Church. Ann was a trustee of Mittineague Congregational Church and founded the parish nurses to provide wellness programs for all church parishioners. The family would like to thank the staff at Agawam Rehab South and New England Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Ann. All arrangements were entrusted to TOOMEY O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME. Donations in Ann’s memory can be made to the Mitteneague Congregational Church, West Springfield, MA. A Celebration of Life Service for Ann will be held at a later time and date.
