Anne Burke-Adams

March 5, 1956 — December 2, 2022

Anne Marie Burke-Adams (Briotta) passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2nd. Anne was born on March 5, 1956 in Springfield, MA. She grew up on Mayflower Rd with her parents and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1974. Although an only child growing up, she was inundated with love from both her Briotta and Izzo families. After high school, she worked for Lederer’s Bake Shop and worked alongside her dad and best friend at Diamond Match as a commercial artist. Years later, Anne was a Celery Stalk staple. She made all your favorite cookies, pies, soups, and sandwiches. Anne was a beach BABE! She loved beach trips to Maine and Rhode Island, martinis with friends, and family dinners with her kids (usually Village Pizza, she loved a veggie pita). She loved fall, drives to the Berkshires, and walks through any park or museum. She was a talented artist, and had a knack for interior designing, decorating, and painting. Her favorites were Tom Petty, George Carlin, and Anthony Bourdain. Anne’s children were the absolute loves of her life and she was endlessly proud of them. She always made them feel supported and loved. She leaves behind son Brian of West Springfield, son Christian and wife Jackie of Holyoke, and daughter Brittany and partner Jamieson of Holyoke. She also leaves behind many friends, family members and her grand dog Billy. Anne was predeceased by her parents Anna (Izzo) and Vincent “Fitz” Briotta, and her husband Ray Dean Adams. Truly an original person in every sense, her spunk and smile will be so missed. Legend is too small a title. A sense of humor like no other, she loved cracking jokes and making bad puns. Her crazy curly hair, her beautiful and bright smile, her infectious laugh, her tiny stature yet larger than life presence. Anne’s children would like to thank the nurses and staff at Care One Northampton and Cooley VNA & Hospice for their love and care for our mom during these last few difficult months. Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 8th from 4-7pm at Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anne Marie may be made to Springfield Museums, 21 Edwards St, Springfield MA 01103 or https://springfieldmuseums.org/donate/ .
