Beverly A. (Barber) MacDonald, 86, died peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, with family by her side. Born in Springfield to the late Charles and Helen (Austin) Barber, she was a longtime resident of West Springfield. She worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Lego Corp. for many years until her retirement in 2001. Beverly was a faithful communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and assisted with their “Loaves and Fishes” program as well as the Parish Cupboard for nineteen years. She was also a Mercy Hospital Companion for many years. Beverly was an avid gardener and enjoyed volunteering, traveling and spending time at the beach with her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her four beloved sons; Kenneth C., Bruce, George and Gordon MacDonald; her three brothers; Donald, Robert and Wayne Barber; and her two sisters Dorothy Dewey and Shirley Barnes. She will be greatly missed by her son Wayne MacDonald and his fiancé Becki Bowen of West Springfield and her daughter Joanne MacDonald of West Springfield, her daughter in law; Margaret MacDonald of South Hadley, and two cherished grandsons; Ben and Eric MacDonald. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1st from 9-10:30 AM at Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield. Beverly’s Funeral Mass will follow at 11AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine St., West Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
