Obituary
Brian Clukey, 57, passed away peacefully from glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) on Jan 27, 2022. He was born in Springfield on March 27, 1964, to the late James and Irene Clukey. His family first lived in Enfield, CT, later settling in Holyoke, MA. Brian kept busy throughout the years enjoying different activities. In his 20’s he was a volunteer firefighter in Wakefield, RI. He still told many stories of these years. Brian enjoyed mining Herkimer Diamonds, whether using hand tools or his Pettibone equipment. He worked as security at the Harmony Café in Springfield in the 90’s where he got the name “Pappas” that stayed with him. Brian moved to Sprakers, NY for 16 years, where he enjoyed his Hobby Farm with fruit trees, gardens, ponds and goats. He loved dogs, especially Hera, the Rottweiler who passed away two months before his diagnosis. You could find him tinkering in the garage creating a masterpiece on his Safe Door Workbench. Repurpose, reuse he had the vision to create and have something work better. When he was diagnosed with brain cancer, he relocated to West Springfield. Special thanks to his in-laws Erwin and Maria Schwarz who lovingly helped Brian over these past four years. He leaves his wife, the love of his life of 40 years, Maria Schwarz, his in-laws Erwin and Maria Schwarz, his brothers; James, Dan and Steve Clukey, his sisters; Gerri Godino and Janet Rufo, his brother-in-law Carl Schwarz and his wife Becky along with his many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed the time he spent time with his nephews; Joe Godino, Jim Clukey and Carsten Schwarz. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Clukey. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held SAT 11 AM in St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St., W. Spfld. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held SAT from 9 to 10:30 AM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST., W. SPFLD.
