Obituary
Brian Alexander Gureckis, 62, of Robinson Road passed away Thursday at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Springfield on June 9, 1958 and has lived in West Springfield all of his life. He graduated from Cathedral High School and later received a B.A. in Communications from University of Hartford. Brian worked as a Sales Representative for Corporate Memberships at B. J.’s Wholesale Club in Chicopee. He also loved radio broadcasting and worked on air as a Disc Jockey for several local stations over the years. He had a great love for music and enjoyed traveling. He also was a restaurant connoisseur and enjoyed healthy food choices. Brian loved conversing and meeting new people. He served honorably as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force as a contract specialist. He was a devoted communicant of St. Thomas Church in West Springfield. He was the beloved son of Agnes M. (Draskawich) Gureckis of West Springfield and the late Michael M. Gureckis (2014), loving brother of Dr. Kevin M. Gureckis and his wife Kathleen of Boerne, TX and Glen B. Gureckis and his wife Michaeline of Ludlow, cherished lifetime partner of Marianne M. Karas of Chicopee, devoted uncle of Todd Gureckis and his wife Julie, Trevor Gureckis and his wife Sugar, and Amanda Gureckis, and great uncle of Marlowe Gureckis. There will be a calling hour Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 am at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 am at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Face masks will be mandatory for the wake, Funeral Mass and burial. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s name may be made to the Shriners’ Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
