Brian Joseph Harvey passed away in Springfield on October 21, 2025, at the age of 85. Born at the family home in Somerville on April 30, 1940, he was one of four children born to Charles Roland and Mary Josephine (O’Brien) Harvey.

Brian was a Vietnam-era US Army veteran serving in France as an Engineer Supply Specialist. Brian worked for more than 15 years as a pressman for Murray Printing Company in Forge Village in Westford, Massachusetts before moving to Florida where he worked as a courier until his retirement. He resided in Florida for 42 years, returning each summer to visit his family in Massachusetts. He had just moved back to Massachusetts prior to his passing.

He had a diverse range of interests and talents and loved to problem-solve and was mechanically-inclined. He had a penchant for history, including WWI and WWII, as well as ancient civilizations and generally world history. His hobbies included communicating with people around the world via his CB radio, beachcombing the shorelines, and collecting ancient coins. He enjoyed researching his family genealogy, caring for his pet cats, and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox and NE Patriots fan.

Brian was predeceased by his brother Charles Reginald Harvey and his granddaughter, Lauren Harvey. He is survived by his sisters Mary Carlo of Townsend and Ann Baker of Lowell; his loving children Jacqueline Kazizian and her husband Gregory of Watertown, Brian Michael Harvey and his wife Heather of Russell, Matthew P. Harvey and his wife Lauren of Natick; grandchildren Megan, Erin, and Nicholas Kazizian, and Kerri, Kacie, Jennifer, Allison, Mason, and Owen Harvey; and many nieces and nephews; and cousins in Canada.

Brian will be laid to rest with a memorial service at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts on November 5, 2025, at 12:45 pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial donation in Brian’s name to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA-Angell).
