Bruce Frederick Caney, 72, passed away Monday at Wingate of West Springfield surrounded by his wife and three sons. He was the 9th child of 12 born in Springfield to the late Lena L. (Gagnon) and Randolph E. Caney Sr. and lived most of his life in West Springfield. Bruce was a proud US Marine Corps veteran. He enlisted right out of high school and served during Vietnam, and was stationed in Cuba. As Bruce would say, �Once a Marine, always a Marine�. He then served in the US Air Force Reserve for over 18 years at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee and retired as a Tech Sergeant. His first job after getting out of the Marines was at Smith & Wesson in Springfield. Bruce retired as a Teamsters Local 404 Truck Driver after working for many years for Consolidated Freight, Smith Transfer and as a rigger at Babbs Transfer. He was a communicant of Holy Mother of the Rosary Church in Chicopee. Bruce leaves his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara C. (Kulik) Caney, his loving sons, Brian F. (Lisa) Caney of Latham, NY, Bradford F. (Judy) Caney of West Springfield and Scott L. (Tanya Bressette) Caney of Holyoke. His four cherished grandchildren (who knew him as Pepa or Grampy); Emilia, Noah, Alyssa and McKenzie. Also his sisters, Joan Caney, Rosemary Caney and Sandra Galarneau as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his six brothers, Randolph, Henry, George, Arthur, Thomas and Louis; and two sisters Jackie Roy and Carol Charpentier. The funeral will be Tuesday 10:30AM at the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St. W. Spfld. followed by a 12 � noon, Liturgy of Christian Burial at Holy Mother of the Rosary Church, 26 Bell St., Chicopee. The burial will follow at MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7PM.
