Carm W. Delnero, 73, of Middle Street passed away Tuesday (4/1) at Westfield Gardens. He was born in Northampton on May 23, 1951, to the late Janet (Hillenbrand) and August Delnero, Jr. He lived in West Springfield most of his life and graduated from West Springfield. In Carm’s early years he worked for the railroad and after that he was self-employed most of his life. He was a gifted athlete and played Varsity Football and Hockey. After high school he was a competitive golfer and was known throughout the area as a money golfer. He was an excellent racquetball player for the Dante Club for years. He was a longtime member of both the Verdi Club, where he served as treasurer, and the Dante Club. He was formerly a communicant of St. Thomas Church. Carm was larger than life and had an abundance of close lifetime friends.
He leaves his loving and caring wife Virginia L. (Weidler) Delnero. They were together for 42 years and married for 21 years. He was the beloved father of David Delnero and his wife Mila of Phoenix, AZ and Carlo Delnero and his wife Luciana of Huntington Beach, CA, cherished grandfather of Maddox, Lucca, Doston, Adrian, Roman, Braeden, and Noah. Carm was predeceased by his two brothers, Danny (1971) and Dougie (1999). The calling hours will be Tuesday April 8th from 9-11AM at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, followed by a Funeral Home Service at 11AM. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carm’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
