Carolyn Bigos, a lifelong resident of West Springfield, passed away surrounded by her loving family. Born in January 1950 to Stephen and Annie (Vershon) Granger, Carolyn was the eldest of eight children and a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Carolyn’s greatest joy was her family. She was the proud mother of four wonderful children — Tara Pendergast (with Mark), Bruce Pendergast (and his wife Sheila), Alicia Bigos (with John), and Justin Bigos — and the beloved grandmother of Tigerlily, Kylie, Connor, and Steven.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: camping in Monson, working on counted cross-stitch projects, playing cards, and listening to music. Carolyn also had a deep love for animals and a generous spirit. She was a steadfast supporter of her husband, son, and grandson in their many Boy Scout adventures.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Annie Granger, her husband’s Richard Pendergast and Henry Bigos, and her siblings Stephen Granger, Frances Granger, and Arthur Granger. She is survived by her siblings Michael Granger and his wife Kathy, John Granger and his wife Lori, Rosemary Fischer, and Annie Reynolds and her husband Doug.
Carolyn will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she gave so freely to everyone who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Services will be private. A celebration of life will be announced at another time. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Boy Scout Troop 49, C/O Alice Richard, 19 Hall Street, Springfield, MA 01108.
