Born April 14, 1936, in her parents’ living room in West Springfield, Massachusetts, she was the oldest of two children to Beatrice A. (Dupré) Apps and Charles R. Apps. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother John F. Apps, her grandson Christopher J. Elliott and great granddaughter Aislinn M. Fogerty. She met the love of her life, Norman “Sonny” Wood at Amostown Reservoir in 1945. The couple married April 18, 1953, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield. She leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her husband, Norman R. Wood Sr. of West Springfield, daughter Marjorie A. Wood of West Springfield, son Norman R. Wood Jr.,(Zenaida), of Naples, Italy, daughter Cheryll C. Bean,(Wendell), of Palmer, son Michael J. Wood-Melting Tallow,(Anthony), of Chicopee and son Ronald P. Wood of Agawam, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and her very special friend and sister-in-law, Barbara (Wood) Montanari of West Springfield.
The entire Wood Family would like to thank the PACE Program of Massachusetts for its unwavering support and dedication over the past few years as well as the staff of Baystate Medical Center’s Emergency and Hospice Services.
Funeral arrangements are through Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home and are private. Donations may be made, in Cecile’s name, to the Alzheimer’s Association.
