Charles F. Nolan, 87, of West Springfield passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. He was born in Springfield, MA on June 18, 1936 to the late Christine (Lemmah) and Charles P. Nolan. He attended Trade High School briefly, but left to support his family. He worked for various grocery stores in the area and was Dairy Manager at Food Mart for many years. He was a proud member of Local 371 of United Food and Commercial Worker’s Union. Upon his retirement, he delivered for Longmeadow Flowers. Charlie was a loving family man. There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his children and grandchildren. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Charlie lived for many years in Port Orange, Florida. He absolutely loved his time there, especially spending time at the beach and working security at Hawaiian Tropics where he met Ron Rice. His humor and quick wit made everyone instantly like him. Charles was the beloved husband of Rita (Keane) Nolan for 66 years, having met when he was a 20-year-old and she was an 18-year-old at the Big Y in Springfield; devoted father of Cindy Nolan of West Springfield, Paul Nolan and his wife Beth of E. Granby CT, and Patty Nolan and her partner Jim Narad of Daytona Beach, FL. He also leaves two loving grandchildren; Brian Nolan of West Springfield and Delia Nolan of Bridgeport, CT and his sister Kathleen Nolan of West Springfield. Charles was predeceased by his daughter Pamela Nolan in 1994, and his son Charles P. Nolan in 1997. There will be a memorial visitation from 4-6pm on Tuesday at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield, with a memorial service at 6pm.
