Hartford, CT- It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christine Zelisko, 70, who left this world too soon on November 30, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was a shining light in our lives, and her absence has left a void that can never be filled. Christine “Chris” Zelisko was a woman of tremendous strength, grace, and compassion. She dedicated her life to nurturing and uplifting her family, always putting our needs above her own. Her selflessness and unwavering love knew no bounds, and she never hesitated to provide comfort, guidance, and encouragement whenever we needed it. She was the epitome of unconditional love, and her gentle spirit will forever be etched in our hearts. Chris had a passion for life. Her warm smile could light up a room, and her laughter was contagious. She had a way of making everyone feel special and valued, always taking the time to listen and offer support. Her compassionate nature extended beyond her family, as she actively volunteered in various community organizations, touching the lives of countless individuals along the way. As a mother, she was our rock, our anchor in times of storm. She taught us the importance of resilience, integrity, and kindness. Her wise words and invaluable guidance will forever guide us through life's trials and tribulations. She instilled in us a sense of purpose and taught us to value the simple joys and beauty that surround us every day. Born on August 10, 1953, she was a devoted daughter to the late Helen (Wrobleski) and Max Zaremba. Chris was adored by her two sisters, Carol Nowak and Cindy Wright with a bond that only sisters could have. She loved and valued family, and created a warm and loving home as she celebrated a 43 year union with the love of her life, Edward Zelisko and her devoted son, Douglas Zelisko, M.D. whom she called her angel always watching over her and making sure their life and travels together were cherished ones. Beloved Brother in laws Mike Wright, Joseph Nowak, nephews Matthew and Gabriel were so cherished by Chris. She also leaves behind her sister in-law Paula Zelisko and daughter Victoria. Chris was a graduate of Chicopee High, where she formed lifelong friendships. She worked in accounting, and finished her career with a 20 year tenure at OMG, Inc where she retired in 2022. A woman of many talents, Chris had a passion for gardening, creating vibrant landscapes that mirrored her own vibrant spirit. She found solace in the beauty of nature, and her garden became a reflection of her nurturing soul. Chris, with an eye for beauty and creative hand excelled in stained glass, painting, chair caning, amongst others. She was a wonderful cook who selflessly shared her talent at the Take and Eat Food Ministry at St John the Evangelist Church. She adored traveling, with her son Douglas going to the South of France, Nice, and Provence this summer. She made many memories for her family with their cherished summers in Maine. Chris leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire generations to come. Though we mourn her loss, we find solace knowing that she is reunited with those who went before her. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her presence will forever be missed. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who have extended their love and support during this difficult time. Calling hours will be Thursday from 8 – 10am at TOOMEY O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church in Agawam.
