Agawam - Claire H. (Robinson) Goldsmith, 95, died on November 1, 2014, at Heritage Hall in Agawam. She was born in Springfield on August 22, 1919, to the late Austin and Regina (Brouillet) Robinson and grew up in West Springfield, where she graduated from West Springfield High School in the Class of 1937. In 1941 she married her high school sweetheart, Harlan ("Goldie") T. Goldsmith, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years and had 2 children. After moving from Massachusetts in 1964, they lived in Milwaukee, WI for 5 years and in Williamsville, NY for 24 years prior to moving to Agawam in 1993 following Goldie's retirement. Claire was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in W. Spfld. She loved to play golf and had been a member of Shaker Farms C.C., Transit Valley C.C. in NY, and Springfield C.C. She was a wonderful and generous friend to many. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a selfless caregiver to many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Claire was predeceased by her beloved and cherished husband Goldie in 2001. She is survived by her loving children, Sandra Goldsmith and her husband George Senge of Los Angeles, CA and Ronald Goldsmith of Springfield, grandchildren Michael and Lori, and great granddaughter Cami, as well as several other family members. Claire was also predeceased by her cherished grandson David Goldsmith and her lifelong friend of over 80 years, Marion (King) Klauber. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and other medical staff at Sr. Caritas Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center for their loving care over the last several years. There will be a Celebration of Life for Claire on Friday, November 7, starting with calling hours from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the Toomey - O'Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 63 Pine Street, West Springfield and burial at St. Thomas Cemetery.
