Clyde E.P. Benton, 81, passed away on Saturday (2/15) in Worcester. He was the son of the late Clyde E. Price and Beatrice (Peche) Price. He was later adopted by the late Donald Benton. Clyde was a 1962 graduate of the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech in Northampton and later in 1966 graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in Vermont. He also attended STCC where he received an Associates Degree. Clyde was employed by USF&G in Springfield. While at this company he received many awards for suggestions. He retired there after twenty-five years. He formerly was a resident of West Springfield and a communicant of St. Thomas Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Agawam. Clyde leaves his wife Alma (Allard) of fifty years. He also leaves his three children: Keith W. Benton and his wife Pashea, Heidi M. Fleury and her husband Scott, and Sheri Almeida and her husband Douglas; his six grandchildren: Natalie and Wesley Fleury, Andrew and Christopher Almeida, and Lilah and Elina Benton. Clyde leaves his sisters: Pamela Rigsbee and her husband Ned, Hope Borghi and her husband Peter, Linda Benton, Maura Benton, Barbara Benton and his sister-in-law Kristine Benton. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Benton Jr. He leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours are Friday (2/21) from 4-6 pm at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. The funeral is Saturday (2/22) at 9 am at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. The burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
