Consuelo G. Gajes, 86, passed away March 10 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born February 5, 1938 to the late Santiago and Silveria (Galinato) Gajes in Munoz, Philippines. She graduated from Central Luzon State University in 1959, earning a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. Consuelo managed food services for Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, HI for 60 years. She began splitting time between Honolulu and West Springfield in 2015 to be with family who live here, and moved here permanently in 2023. She had a love for cooking and was proficient with all kinds of Asian dishes. A grocery store was like her Disneyland. Consuelo was predeceased by her parents, Santiago and Silveria Gajes, and sisters, Emilia Ruiz, Ludivica Gajes and Gregoria Dadulla. She is survived by her sisters, Leonida Rambaud and her husband Filipino of West Springfield, and Simplicia Cabanes and her husband Candy of Sun City, CA; Consuelo was beloved and will be missed by dozens of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 14 from 4-6pm, at Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield and a Funeral Service will be at 6pm.
