Obituary
D. Joanne (Calabrese) Jensen, 82, passed away Thurs Aug. 6, 2020 in Baystate Medical Center. She was born May 17, 1938 to the late John and Adeline (Yamin) Calabrese. Joanne graduated from West Springfield High School in 1956. She worked in the accounting department at the Springfield Republican before retiring in 2002. She also was the secretary for her husband’s painting business; Jensen Painting. Joanne also worked in admissions at the Eastern States Expo. An avid fan of hockey, she was the former treasurer for Baystate Fuel hockey team and statistician for the Greater Springfield Youth Hockey Team. Her and her husband Phil were longtime season ticketholders for the Springfield Indians and Kings. She also enjoyed football and lacrosse. Her greatest joy was watching her sons playing football and hockey and her grandson Brian playing hockey and lacrosse and granddaughter Natalie playing basketball, soccer and field hockey. Joanne was also a member of the Agawam Gridiron Mother’s Club. She always said she was blessed with a loving family. Joanne was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Philip B. Jensen Sr., on Nov 22, 2019. She was a beloved mother to Philip Jensen Jr, and his wife Linda of Agawam and Michael Jensen and his wife Jan of Madeira Beach, grandmother of Heather Gallagher and her husband Brian, Nicole Bitzas and her husband Peter, Brian and Natalie Jensen, great grandmother of Sydney, Caleb, Gabriella and Fiona. She also leaves her sisters-in-law Carolyn and Judy Calabrese, her nephews Joseph, Louis, John and Jim Calabrese and niece Amy Mendrala and their spouses; Ann, Sandy, Donna, Anna and Michael. Joanne was predeceased by her sister Adeline “Pinky” Calabrese and brothers John and Louis Calabrese along with her stepfather Joseph Lignar. Calling Hours will be held THURSDAY from 8:30 to 10 AM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUENRAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST., W. SPFLD, followed by an 11 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Rd, Spfld, MA. Burial will follow in the Springfield Street Cemetery in Feeding Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Anthony Maronite Church, 375 Island Pond Rd., Spfld, MA 01118
