Obituary
Daniel Anthony Ferreira, 62, of Almon Avenue, West Springfield, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at home. He was born in Springfield on July 4, 1957 to the late August and Mary Ann (Dascanio) Ferreira. He graduated from East Longmeadow High School and later received a B.A. from American International College in Health Sciences. He was a Vocational Instructor for years at the Goodwill Industries in Springfield. He enjoyed watching all the local professional teams, but he especially loved the WWE. Daniel was born with Spinal Bifida and courageously battled through illnesses and handicaps his entire life. The family would like to give a special thanks to his Personal Care Attendant, Katie Bernard, who helped him the last several years. He was the beloved brother of Frank Ferreira and his wife Patricia J. of Chicopee and Patricia A. Schauer and her husband Marvin of Longwood, CO, and the caring uncle of Dayna Nethercott and her husband Kevin, Toni Urban and her husband Hayes, Sharon Lynch-Wilson, Kelly Lynch and her husband Joseph Shelly, and Tina Matheney and her husband Matthew. He also leaves several great nieces and nephews. The funeral services and burial at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Springfield will all be Private. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Daniel’s memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
