David J Gonyea

East Longmeadow- David J. Gonyea, 87, passed away at home on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Born in Springfield and raised also in East Longmeadow, to the late Leo and Lyla (Griswold) Gonyea, he was a proud Veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps and went on to work for Hamilton Standard as Director of Engineering Records until retirement. Dave lived in West Springfield where he raised his family, became a proud member of the Dante Club and enjoyed all the years being a part of their Bocce Team. Throughout his life, Dave enjoyed his favorite sports teams: Boston Celtics, NY Yankees and NY Giants and spending time with family and friends and all the memories shared. He was the beloved father of Linda St. Onge and her husband Steven, Christine LaViolette and her husband Joseph and loving grandfather to Nicholas LaViolette, all of West Springfield. He also leaves his cherished partner of many years, Janet Richards, of East Longmeadow as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Lorraine Pomeroy, Evelyn Amsden, Larry, Bobby, and Ray Gonyea; his former wife Marie (Palladino) Gonyea, and his beloved grandson Joseph LaViolette, Jr. Calling hours are Tuesday (12/2) from 9:30-10:30 am at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. Following the waking hours there will be a Funeral Home Service at 10:30 am. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery in East Longmeadow.
