David D Signet

David D. Signet, 86, passed away August 29, 2023, at the Holyoke Soldiers Home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield, February 14, 1937, and was a lifelong resident of West Springfield. He was the son of the late George and Margaret (Delaney) Signet. He worked for over 40 years for New England Telephone Co/Verizon. He was a US Army Veteran and Air National Guard Veteran. David was a communicant of ST. Thomas Church and a member of the West Springfield Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports fan but his favorite sport was hockey and he enjoyed watching the Boston Bruins and early on the Springfield Kings and Indians. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Whether attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, school events or just having a family dinner. He leaves his beloved wife, Carol Ann (Sterlacci) Signet whom he shared 53 years of marriage with, his loving children, David Jr and his wife Cheryl of West Springfield, Brian and his wife Norma of West Springfield, Jeffrey and his wife Rebecca of Feeding Hills and Steven and his wife Sarah of Agawam. He also leaves his loving sisters, Joyce Guistina of West Springfield and Karen LaBelle and her husband Fred of CA, his 11 beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Ella, Stephanie, Katherine, Mario, Brison, Gianna, Brayden, Sophie, Nora, William and his 2 loving great grandchildren, Faith and Aaron along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Maureen Dion and her husband Roger and his brother in law, Robert Guistina. David’s funeral mass will be held Tuesday September 5, 2023 at 10am from the Sacred Heart Church in Agawam with burial and military honors to follow in the Mass Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday September 4, 2023 from 4-7pm from the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St West Springfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Soldiers Home 110 Cherry St Holyoke, MA 01040.
