David F. Zitka passed away peacefully at home on August 28th, 2026. 

He leaves his beloved wife and soulmate, Cindy Zitka of Springfield, his loving children Matthew David Zitka of Springfield, and Stefanie Zitka of Manhattan, his sister Dawn McClure of Longmeadow, his brother EdwardZitka and wife Hope Zitka of West Springfield, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Lorraine and Edward Zitka of West Springfield. 

He was a graduate of West Springfield High School and former employee at the Connecticut Department of Corrections. He loved watching the Patriots, the Red Sox, talking about his toga party, and spending time with his faithful dog, Astra. 

Private graveside services will be held Thursday, September 3rd at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Cemetery in West Springfield. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dakin Humane Society, or the Boys and Girls Club of West Springfield.
