Obituary
DeWitt James Tash, 78, of Springfield, passed away on November 6, 2019. He was born on July 6, 1941 in Philadelphia to James and Elizabeth (Roney) Tash. He moved to Springfield and graduated from Commerce High School. He served in the Army National Guard reaching the rank of Sergeant from 1961 – 1967. In 1974, DeWitt married MaryJeanne Talarico. He worked as a direct care worker at the Belchertown State School from 1975 – 1992. He had a passion for fencing and was a student at Salle Santelli in New York City. He was a member of the Springfield Turnverein Club and he founded and coached the Springfield Fencing Club. DeWitt opened Salle D’Arms Springfield School of Fencing in 1988. He had a love for Wagner Operas and Greek Philosophy. DeWitt was a man of integrity and few words. He leaves a sister, Doris LeClair and husband Fran of CA., a son, Tristan and wife Niem of Springfield, a daughter, Teresa Kimball and husband Adam of Westfield, three grandchildren, Damian, Liam and Anita, his former wives Mary Jeanne Tash and Belmira (Ramos) Tash. Calling hours will be held on Monday 4 – 7PM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield.
