Obituary
Diane M. Cote, 81, passed away Friday April 17, 2020. She was born Nov. 11, 1938 to the late John and Anna (Crowley) Newman. Diane was a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms College and received her teaching degree from there. She was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas Church and worked as a 4th Grade teacher at St. Thomas School in West Springfield for many years. Diane enjoyed spending time at her winter home in Florida and she loved playing cards and socializing with friends. She also was very talented in needlepointing. She was predeceased by her husband Richard J. Cote on June 28, 2018. Diane leaves her loving sons; Mark Cote and his wife Karen of West Springfield, and Brian Cote and his wife Karen of Solana Beach, CA, and her grandchildren; Ryan, Maeve, Patrick, Aidan, Norah and Nathan. She was also predeceased by her brother Richard Newman. A Memorial Service will be held SAT July 24, 2021 at 10 AM in St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St., West Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. A Calling Hour will be held SAT from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Diane’s name to the St. Thomas School Development Fund, 75 Pine Street, West Springfield, MA 01089. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
