Donald Golden, 72, went home to the Lord on February 23rd after a short illness. He was born in Springfield to parents Ruth and Louis “Jack” Golden.
He graduated from Longmeadow High School, attended American International College and received a degree in Sociology. He worked at the Department of Transitional Assistance for twenty-eight years, and at the West Springfield Senior Center for twenty-two years. Most recently he held a part-time job at St. Mary’s Academy in Longmeadow. Don lived the Beautitudes.
Don was a member of the Diocesan Pro-Life Commission, the Knights of Columbus in Longmeadow MA, and the Third Order Carmelites. His Jewish roots gave him a strong background in becoming a Completed Jew. He was devoted to the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Adoration, reading the Bible and many other prayer services. Don will be remembered as a man who lived a reverent and holy life and helped many people along the way by his witness of faith. He leaves behind his beloved friend, Deborah Tracy and his sister, Harriet Deluzio as well as his nieces, grand nieces and many wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow on Thursday, March 2nd at 10:30 AM. Burial Rite will take place at 1:00 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Tinkham Road in Springfield. Donations if desired may be made to St. Mary's Academy in support of catholic school education.
