Donna J. Maroney

Westfield – Donna J. Maroney passed away March 15 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a serious illness. She was 72 years old. Donna was born in Springfield on October 20, 1951 and moved to West Springfield over 50 years ago, where she resided up until 2 years ago when she moved to Westfield. She graduated from Commerce High School and then from Westfield State College with a Bachelors degree in Childhood Education. She worked as a nanny for many years in Longmeadow, caring for many children, each of whom she loved dearly. Donna travelled for years with her aunt and best friend Fern Balding to Cape Cod, the West Coast and Europe. She enjoyed watching TV, reading, gardening, baking and cooking. She spent the last 2 years of her life at the Arbors in Westfield where she met wonderful ladies and shared happy times together. Donna was predeceased by mother Dorothy (Walton) Maroney; brother Keith Maroney; and aunt Fern M. Balding. She is survived by her cousins Kerri Powling and her husband George of West Springfield, Jeffrey Balding and his wife Patricia of Longs, SC, Laura Balding of Enfield, CT, and Kimberly Balding of Raeford, NC; her dear friend Vatsala Chawla with her husband and 2 children, as well as 3 great-cousins. Donna’s family would like to recognize the excellent care she received at Mercy Hospital ICU, Baystate Health Center and Baystate Medical Center ICU. We thank you, especially Alyssa (RN) for your love. All services will be private and have been entrusted to TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME.
