Donna Merritt

Donna (Keller) Merritt, 89, passed away May 29, 2024. Born in Mohawk, NY, March 19, 1935, the daughter of the late Joseph and Delaphine (Burdick) Keller. Donna graduated from Mohawk Central High School in 1953 and the Potsdam State Teachers College in 1957 with a degree in elementary education. She married Ward Merritt Jr. in July of 1957 and taught elementary school in Pennington New Jersey before moving to Agawam and later to West Springfield. She taught preschool at the Mittineague Congregational Church nursery school and later nursery school at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Her beloved husband, Ward Merritt Jr. died in 2000. She leaves her devoted children, Randy M. of Fulshear, TX, Brent J. of Southwick and Robin M. Korbut of South Hadley, her beloved sister, JoAnn Morton of Oklahoma City, OK, her 8 loving grandchildren and her 7 adored great grandchildren. Donna’s wishes were that all services are private. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital 516 Carew St Springfield, MA 01104.
