Doris S. (Dumais) Gousy

Doris Suzanne (Dumais) Gousy, 79, passed away Saturday at Mercy Medical Center. She was born to the late Charles and Bernadette Dumais on July 24, 1935. Before moving to Western MA in 1955 from Quebec, Canada, Doris taught at L��cole Duvernay. She worked as a baker for St. Thomas School. Doris enjoyed her time bowling, painting, and baking, keeping the cookie jar full for visitors especially her grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church where she was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. Doris was the beloved wife of Norman Gousy for 53 years. She was the devoted mother to Michael and his wife Denise of East Longmeadow, Robert and his wife Tammie of Burke, VA, Norman and his wife Michele of Belchertown, and Daniel of Northampton. She was the cherished grandmother to Jason, Lauren, Allison, Rachel, Gregory, Nicole, Nathan and Joelle. Doris was the caring sister to Lisa and her husband Bernard, Charles (Pat) Dumais and his late wife Helen, and Jean-Louis and his wife Ellen. Doris� funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM at the Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Rites of Committal will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle School, 75 Pine Street, West Springfield, MA 01089. The family would like to extend gratitude for all at Mercy who cared for Doris during her illness and especially the care and compassion shown to her during her final days.
