Obituary
Dorothy R. Crosby of W. Spfld., loving wife of the late Roy Crosby, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Feb. 2, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born October 24, 1928 to Robert and Anne (Ernst) Richardson and raised in Chicopee. She moved to W. Spfld. with her husband in 1950. Dorothy was a proud homemaker and loving wife. Early on she started taking in ironing and sewing which allowed her to stay at home to raise their four children. As a young mother she was active in Junior Women’s Club, serving a term as president. She developed a business doing sewing alterations that spanned 60 years. Dorothy started selling Avon in 1978 achieving President’s status with the third highest sales in W. Mass. She was a lifelong Yankee Fan and also enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in a variety of sports. During the summers she spent most of her time on Otis Reservoir at the summer home she built with her husband and children. Dorothy leaves her children, Robert and his wife Cynthia of Southwick, Debra Carras and her husband Peter of Middlefield, CT, Rick and his wife Tracy of Narragansett, RI and Lynn Tancrati of W. Spfld, and 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Meghan and Sarah (Zach) Crosby, Jennifer (Brad) Silvia, Nick (Monica) Carras and Alex (Jen) Carras, Brittany, Mitch (Alyssa) and Travis (Mary) Crosby, and Erik and Marc (Georgia) Tancrati. She also leaves 4 great grandchildren, Greyson and Harper Carras and Zachary and Weston Silvia. She was predeceased by Roy her husband of 65 yrs., her siblings Barbara Vogel and Robert Richardson, and her great granddaughter Brooklynn Carras. She leaves her brother-in-law Bernard Crosby and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Liz Avalone for her support and companionship, allowing Dorothy to remain in her home over the last few years. A Celebration of Life will be held April 9, 2022 at 11 AM in the Red Oak Church, 337 Piper Rd., W. Spfld, MA 01089. She will be interred with her husband in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Red Oak Church, 337 Piper Rd. W. Spfld., MA 01089. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home have been entrusted with the arrangements.
