Edith M. Walker

Edith M. Walker, 97, of West Springfield, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 5, 2023 at Noble Hospital. Edith was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada to the late Ronald and Sarah MacInnis. She lived in Canada throughout her childhood, eventually settling in Western Massachusetts with her late husband, Joseph G. Walker.
Edith was a wonderful Mom and was so proud of her six children. Famous for her scratch recipes, cookies, and pies, Edith will be remembered most for her calm, caring and loving spirit. Always a very independent woman, Edith had a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh and loved making others smile. She had a great love for happy family get-togethers and tapping her toe to the fiddle music and dance of PEI.
Edith will be greatly missed by her children, Michael Walker and his wife Leslie of Holden, MA, Ronald Walker and his wife Diane of West Springfield, MA, Marie Carme and her husband Vin of St. Simons Island, GA, Edie Messina of Grayson, GA, James Walker and his wife Jeanne of Westfield, MA and Brian Walker and his wife Ivona of Alpharetta, GA. She is predeceased by four sisters, and three brothers. She was also the loving grandmother to sixteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and was predeceased by one grandchild, Cameron Walker, in 2017. Edith also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday May 10, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield MA. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday May 11, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 47 Pine St, West Springfield, MA.
