Edward O. Ackley

Chicopee- Edward O. Ackley, 86, passed away September, 10, 2106 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Westfield to the late Virginia (Scruggs) and Marshall Ackley. Edward was raised in Blandford, and then lived in West Springfield most of his adult life, having moved to Chicopee 24 years ago. He was a groundskeeper at AIC for many years as well as Stop & Shop in Chicopee. He had a great love of family, friends, music, dancing, sports and his famous cigars.�Edward was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary (Guenette) Ackley in 1992. He leaves his loving children, Stephen Ackley of Florence, KY and Elizabeth Carvalho & her husband Noel with whom he lived in Chicopee, his adored grandchildren, Ryan & Dylan Carvalho, Sean, Cassandra and Brandon Ackley, David Agustynowicz and Samantha Slowik as well as 2 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Marshall, Elmer and Calvin Ackley and his sisters, Blanche Ackley, Dora Jones and Thelma Lecuyer. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 1st at 11AM in St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., Chicopee. The burial will follow at Paucatuck Cemetery, Sibley Ave., W. Spfld. Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
