Edward F. Foley, Sr.

Edward F. Foley Sr., 89, longtime West Springfield Firefighter, passed away Saturday July 29, 2017 at Mercy Hospital. Born in Springfield, September 25, 1927, he was the son of the late Harold T. Sr. and Mary (Hoar) Foley. Ed was a firefighter for over 35 years for the City of West Springfield retiring in 1985. He was a US Navy veteran during WWII and was very active with the St. Patrick�s Parade Committee volunteering on the float building and was the West Springfield St Patrick�s Parade Marshal in 2013. Ed was an avid bowler and golfer and was a communicant of St Thomas Church. He leaves his beloved wife of 64 years, Rita I. (Coulombe) Foley, his loving children, Elizabeth Dore (Charles) of Bonita Springs, FL, Edward F. Jr., (LouAnn) of W.Spfld, John (Nancy) of Lakeland, FL, Kathleen Cornella (Ronald) of Prescott, AZ, Timothy of W. Spfld, James (Ellen) of W.Spfld, William (Lori) of W.Spfld, Patrick (Kathleen) of Johns Creek, GA, Maura Collette (George) of W. Spfld., and Karin Crossley (Mark) of Fleetwood, PA, his beloved sisters, Katherine Olson (Wallace) of Westfield and Mary Papadakis (Manuel) of El Paso, TX, his 24 adoring grandchildren and his 5 special great grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings, Harold, Jr., Robert, Patricia, Thomas and Joseph. Ed�s Funeral Mass will be held Friday 10am, please meet directly at St. Thomas Church with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
