Edward A. Lecnar, 78, entered eternal life on February 8, 2023, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Holyoke, the son of Antoni and Ceceila (Zawisza) Lecnar and was educated in the Holyoke schools. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving aboard the USS H. W. Gilmore, and was stationed in Newport, RI and on Guam, Mariana Islands. He received an Associate of Arts Degree from Holyoke Community College and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts. He retired from the University of Massachusetts in 2002. Since 2003, Ed was a regular volunteer at the Mass Veterans Memorial Cemetery and was a daily walker at the Holyoke Mall for many years. Ed is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia (Joyce) Lecnar and two daughters, Deborah Barrick of Poughquag, NY and Joyce Bergeron of Southwick, four grandchildren, Timothy, Sean and Tara Barrick and Brandon Bergeron, his sister, Nancy Blanchard of Holyoke and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Cecilia (Dorothy) Lucier of Holyoke died in 2010. The funeral mass for Ed will be held Wednesday February 15, 2023, at 11:30AM from St. Thomas Church with burial to follow in the Mass Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
