Springfield-Elaine Hebert-Dancik passed away on Tuesday, January 21 in Chicopee, MA. She was 74 years old. Born in Watertown, CT on February 3, 1950, Elaine was the daughter of the late Fernand J. and Doris B. (LaBreque) Hebert. Elaine earned her Bachelors Degree in Linguistics, Language and Translation from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1976 and a Master of Business Administration from Bay Path University in 2015. Having moved to Paris, France after her BA for a language course, Elaine ended up living there for over 25 years. There she raised her three children and ran a private English language school with her husband Jeffery William Dancik of Chicago, IL. For the past 25 years she resided in Springfield, MA. She worked as a substitute teacher for the Springfield Board of Education and for over 20 years, at Holyoke Community College as a Student Assessment Coordinator. Elaine loved to travel in Europe and was an avid collector of antiques, especially paintings, furniture, stemware and China. She valued good manners and instilled respect, responsibility and etiquette in her children and students alike. Elaine is survived by her sons Yuri Hebert Dancik and his wife Dominique of Tours, France; Kyrill Hebert Dancik and his wife Nikita of Springfield, MA, and daughter Jihane-Rachel (Dancik) Egikyan and her husband Victor of Beersheba, Israel; and former husband Jeffrey W. Dancik. She will be missed by her grandchildren Elaine, Anakin (Madriga) Dancik, Remi Dickens, Noah, Zoey, Maxine and Ezekiel Dancik, and Myriam and Aviyah Egikyan; brothers Warren J. Hebert and wife Carolyn of Barrington, RI, and James P. Hebert and his wife Keelie of South Hadley, MA, and sister Michele A. Hebert of Indianapolis, IN. Elaine’s family would like to thank all the hospice staff of New England Hospice and all the staff of Chicopee Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
