Obituary
Eleanor M. (Buck) McCarthy, 70, a longtime resident of the Feeding Hills section of Agawam, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Born December 20, 1948 in West Springfield to Carl and Marie (Tuohey) Buck, Ellie attended Cathedral High School and graduated from West Springfield High School in 1966. She graduated from the Springfield Hospital School of Nursing with her R.N. and worked in nursing her entire career, most recently for Coram Specialty Infusion. Ellie most enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, going to the beach, and watching the Weather Channel. Following her retirement, she was able to fulfill longtime plans to travel with friends. She will be remembered as a caretaker to all and a cherished friend. She leaves her brother, Paul Buck, of West Springfield; her children, Karen McCarthy and her husband, E. Scott Broderick, of Richmond, Virginia; Kate Roy and her husband, Chris, of North Granby, Connecticut, and Dan McCarthy and his wife, Andrea, of Walpole; grandchildren Nina Broderick, Lauren and Owen Roy, and Donovan, Griffin and Cullen McCarthy. Also, her ex-husband, James McCarthy and his wife, Jeanne, of Feeding Hills, Jeanne’s daughter, Erica, of Feeding Hills, and family; sister-in-law, Susan McCarthy and her husband, Bruce Barone, of West Springfield, and brother-in-law, Dan McCarthy, of Southwick; nieces Tammy Talbot and her husband, Scott, of Southampton, Debra Perusse and her husband, Dan, of Belchertown, and Marie Kinard and her husband, Richard, of Florida, and nephew, Paul Buck, of Virginia. She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Westbrook, her brother, Peter Buck, and her grandson, Miles Broderick. Funeral Services will be held TUESDAY 10 AM AT TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST., W.SPFLD. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Kings Hwy, W.Spfld. Calling Hours will be held MONDAY from 4 to 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942
