Elizabeth H “Betty” (Gnyla) Briggs, 78, passed away July 8, 2026. Born in Bristol, CT, April 7, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Borowy) Gnyla. She was a Registered Nurse at Baystate Medical Center for many years after graduating from the St Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford. She enjoyed Civil War reenactments, target shooting, sewing, cooking and making Christmas ornaments for her friends. She was a communicant of St Thomas Church and will be missed by her many friends and family members. She leaves her beloved husband of 56 years, Robert W Briggs Jr and her brother, James H Gnyla of Hemet, CA. Betty’s Funeral Mass will be held Saturday July 18, 2026, at 10AM from St Thomas Church. Burial will be private. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Ascend Hospice and Healthcare for the wonderful care they gave Betty.
