Elizabeth �Bonnie� (Kot) Hershel Giordano, 93, of Maple Heights passed away peacefully Thursday at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on September 26th, 1921 to the late Mary (Wojciak) and Joseph Kot. She grew up in Holyoke and was a graduate of Holyoke High School, Class of 1939. Bonnie lived most of her life in Chicopee and spent over 25 years in Springfield. She worked for 25 years as Senior Section Chief for Dow Jones in Chicopee, retiring in 1988. The most important thing in Bonnie�s life was her family and she especially enjoyed her vacations with her family to Newfound Lake, NH. She was an avid reader, and was extremely accomplished in knitting and crocheting. Bonnie�s strength, positive attitude and sense of humor will always be remembered. Her warm smile and caring spirit�touched the lives of everyone she met. Bonnie was devoted to her faith and was formerly a communicant of Holy Cross Church. She was the loving wife of 36 yrs. to Saverio Giordano, beloved widow of Raymond S. Hershel, Sr. (1969), cherished mother of Christine V. Gustafson and her husband David of West Simsbury, CT, Raymond S. Hershel, Jr. and his wife Maureen of West Springfield, and to the late Timothy R. Hershel (2010), and caring mother-in-law of Judi Green Hershel of Wilbraham. She was the devoted grandmother to Maura Calhoun, Sarah Hershel, Daniel Hershel, Eric Gustafson, Emily Petricone, and Matthew Gustafson, loving great grandmother of Calvin Calhoun, Francis Yacavone, Genevieve Hershel, and Esme Hershel. She was predeceased by her siblings; Victoria Potter, Francis Kot, Joseph Kot, Jr., Genevieve Jackowski and Jean Ferrari. The funeral will be 10 AM Monday at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, W. Spfld. followed at 11 AM by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church, 63 Pine Street, West Spfld. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Sunday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
