North Pomfret, VT - Ethel May Cone, 86, of Old Kings Highway passed away peacefully Saturday at the Loomis House in Holyoke, MA surrounded by her loving family. Ethel was born in Trenton, NJ on April 22, 1929 to the late James and Jean Bates. Ethel was a travel agent for Bond Street Travel in Great Neck, NY the town where she and her husband resided and raised their children. Her career afforded her family many wonderful trips together abroad. Ethel enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidery and playing cards. In later years, she enjoyed time spent at the Thompson Senior Center in Woodstock VT, and the leisurely country rides to and from. Her greatest love however, was her role as the heart and soul of her family. Her most precious times were those spent in the presence of the friends and family who loved her. Ethel was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years Nicholas Cone in 1992. She was the loving mother of Erich and his wife Joan Huebner of NC, Theresa and her husband Chris Antal of North Pomfret,VT, Victoria Novok of NY, and Donna Cone of VA. Ethel was the cherished grandmother of Jennifer, Evan, Tina, Becky, Erich, Laurie, and Brian and great-grandmother of Angelica, Jesse, Kyleigh, Addison and Emma. There will be a private graveside service for the family at All Saints Cemetery, 855 Middle Neck Rd, Great Neck, NY.
