Evelyn M. (Birk) Kinney

West Springfield � Evelyn M. (Birk) Kinney, 91 passed away Monday, February 22nd at Wingate of West Springfield. She was born in Hazleton, PA in 1925 to the late John P. and Gladys (Ziegler) Birk. Evelyn raised five children in Valley Stream, NY. She worked at the Big Apple Supermarket before retiring to Port Richey, FL. Evelyn loved to read, do puzzles and garden, but her love of her pets and all living creatures was special. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold W. Kinney, and her two sons, John and Carl Kinney. Evelyn is survived by three children, Valerie Ungerer of W. Spfld., Harold (Madeline) Kinney of Valley Stream, NY and Gladys Carnahan of Voorheesville, NY, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The Graveside Service will be held in the spring at Union Cemetery, Weatherly, PA. The family would like to gratefully thank the staff at Wingate of W. Spfld. for their devoted and constant care of Evelyn these past several years. Evelyn often said �the people here are like family�.
