Florence G. (Mabb) Gilmour

WEST SPRINGFIELD- Florence (Mabb) Gilmour, born February 11, 1930 in Agawam, a long time resident of West Springfield, passed away Monday April 18, 2016 after struggling with COPD. Florence was one of nine children: predeceased by her brother Elmer Mabb and sisters Mary Holcome and Patricia Belden. She leaves her brothers Robert and George Mabb, sisters Martha Lofland, Theresa Stewart and Susan McKenzie. She leaves her six children, Sharon Miner, John Gilmour, Donna Hansen and her husband Robert, Joanne Gilmour, Carol Gilmour and her husband Rick O�Neil, Gordon Gilmour and his wife Debbie. Florence leaves her grandchildren, Nicole and Casey Miner, Greg Miner and his wife Laura, Katy Diamond and her husband Garrett, Sarah and Kelsey Hansen, Alisha Powell and her husband Stephen, Gabriell and Kurtis Gilmour. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that she loved, all of whom were very special to her. A 1948 graduate of West Springfield High School, she married Douglas Gilmour in 1950 and raised her six children. She was loved by all that knew her, adored her grandchildren, an avid reader, intrigued with politics and whooping it up with her friends Gloria (Hoves) Battista, predeceased, and Sally (Sarah Green) Springer. These three best friends, together since 7th grade, laughed, cried, vacationed together, loved to have sleepovers, enjoyed their cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and playing cards. There will never be another trio like them. Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 21, 2016, 3pm to 6pm at Toomey O�Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield with the burial at the convenience of the family.
